MATHERS IS FLYING UNDER THE RADAR AT GIRLS INC TO TAKE DOWN BRIDGET ZIEGLER THE FACE OF REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE WOMANHOOD
DEMOCRAT POLITICAL OPERATIVE MATHERS AND EDWARDS HANDPICKED CANDIDATES HAVE INFLAMED A BITTER LOCAL CULTURE WAR
Kay Mathers is a former Republican who once worked for a Rupert Murdock Fox affiliate TV station in Houston Texas who has now become a leading local Democrat operative to take down Bridget Ziegler, who is becoming on the national level a face of Republican Conservative womanhood.
Mathers resume since arriving in Sarasota in 1998 from Houston, Texas before becoming a local Democrat political operative includes being the News Director for 11 years at ABC WWSB TV 7. After leaving WWSB, Mathers became the Director of Communication Relations at Girls Inc in Sarasota where she remains today.
Mathers joined the Democrat Party in 2018 and proceeded to get heavily involved with Margret Good's political career and local Democrat politics. Mathers was involved with Good's successful campaign against James Buchanan for the Florida House of Representative in 2017. Mathers became Good's legislative aide and Good's political director in Good's landslide loss to Vern Buchanan for the U.S Congress in 2020.
For the past three election cycles, Mathers has served as Political Director and strategist for two state house races for Ruth's Lists Florida, recruitng, training and supporting Democratic pro-choice women to state and local office in Florida.
Mathers with her excellent communication skills, she along with other local Democrats had ambitions Good would become a national political figure. It is ironic that while Good has become just another failed local politician, Ziegler's national political future is flourishing.
As a political operative, Mathers operates under the radar at Girls Inc where she networks with various influential high dollar foundations members promoting her political and social ideology. At the same time, Mathers has been very active in the Democratic Party, as mentioned above working closely with former Florida State Representative Good. Mathers and Good formed the BUILD LOCAL POWER PAC on 7/20/21 to enhance the local Democratic Party organizational and financial base. The PAC has a data base of over 2,100 with contributions and expeditions of over $240,000.
Some Republicans found it hypocritical that Democrats (and the media) would suddenly see a political committee as the answer to electoral challenges. “You attribute any political committee from Republicans as dark money and any committee from a Democrat a First Amendment right,” said Eric Robinson, a Republican treasurer based in Sarasota County.
Mathers present political activity has centered on the local Sarasota County School Board races. For example, Mathers joined together with Sarasota County School Board member Tom Edwards to handpick Democrat candidates to takedown Ziegler and elect Democrats to replace the retiring School Board members Shirley Brown and Jane Goodwin.
MATHERS AND EDWARDS CONTIUING TO TURN SCHOOL BOARD RACES PARTISIAN
Mothers and Edwards are doing in 2022 just as Republicans Eric Robinson and Christian Ziegler did in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020, which has turned the once nonpartisan School Board elections into partisan elections, which does not insure electing the most qualified candidates.

Mothers and Edwards are doing what local Democrat political operatives Rita Ferrandino, Christine Jennings and Susan Nilon started in 2015, which was turning a once nonpartisan election for the City of Sarasota City Commission election into a partisan election. Most political observers agree the results of turning the City of Sarasota Commission election into partisan elections has not resulted in electing the most qualified.
SCHOOL BOARD RACES BITER CONFRONTATION OVER SOCIAL ISSUES
In turning the School Board elections into partisan elections, a bitter confrontation between the followers of candidate's stance on social issues has erupted. The candidate who is at the center of this biter confrontation on social issues is Ziegler.
Ziegler's conservative stance on social issues was Mathers and Edwards moving forces in finding a Democrat candidate to take out Ziegler. The question now is the candidate Mathers and Edwards chose to defeat Ziegler more qualified to serve on the School Board than Ziegler?
ZIEGLER MAJOR PROBLEM FOR DEMOCRATS
Ziegler has become a major problem for local Democrats and now for statewide and national Democrats. Ziegler has become what is a model Democrat woman would like to portray to be -- a strong articulate woman with a responsible private sector job, a wife and a mother of three beautiful young children.
The problem for the Democrats like Mathers and Edwards is that Ziegler is a Republican and the face of Republican Conservative womanhood.
Ziegler was none of that when she arrived in Sarasota from Miami Beach in 2010. Ziegler was a drop out from two junior colleges and Florida Atlantic. Ziegler was a registered Democrat working in an exclusive department store in Miami Beach selling Gucci shoes and handbags.
Shortly after arriving in Sarasota, Bridget McGrath met Christian Ziegler and after a courtship the Ziegler's married. Bridget became a Republican started a family and got a job selling insurance.
In 2014 when School Board member Carol Todd resigned in midterm, then Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed an unqualified Sarasota County School Board members to replace Todd, Bridget Ziegler. Following that appointment, Ziegler in a bitter partisan election defeated a more qualified Democrat candidate Ken Marsh.
Since then, Ziegler has become a passionate Republican Conservative woman motivating other woman to speak out in how their children are being educated in public school. In the meantime, Ziegler has become a very qualified member of the Sarasota County School Board. Ziegler has grown tremendously as a member of the School Board since she has been elected eight years ago.
If anyone denies that, one was not at the recent local Tiger Bay forum or if they were, they were ignoring that Ziegler was very impressive in a near hostile environment. Ziegler was articulate, concise, and had an excellent grasp of the issues.
Ziegler's answered in a very emotional manner why she had her daughter in a private school and not a public school, which was the highlight of the forum.

That incident bought back memories of back in the day at a Tiger Bay forum when Shirley Brown was attacked for only having a GED when she ran for Florida State Legislature. Ziegler handled the attack as emotionally and skillfully as Brown did.
MATHERS HAS WORKED PUTTING A COALITION TOGETHER TO DEFEAT ZIEGLER

Mathers has worked under the e radar to put a coalition together to take down Ziegler, not as publicly as her fellow Democrats Ferrandino, Jennings and Nilon took down their fellow Democrat on the Sarasota City Commission, Susan Chapman.
There is little doubt that being a local Democratic operative, Mathers is applying her commuacations skills to take down Ziegler and is heavily involved in Ziegler's opponent Dawnyell Singleton's campaign.
Part of the Mathers/Edwards strategy to take down Bridget Ziegler was to support Sarasota City Commission Hagen Brody organizational and financial in his anticipated campaign against Christie Ziegler for the Sarasota County Commission. In doing so they would tie Bridget Ziegler with her husband Christian Ziegler's controversial Conservative Republican views.
Mathers, Edwards, and other Bridget Ziegler detractors have also organized the local liberal Democratic base against Ziegler, whose views on wedge issues such as pro choice/pro life and LGBTQ are contrary to their beliefs.
MATHERS/EDWARDS STRATEGY TO TAKE OUT BRIDGET ZIEGLER HAS FAILED
The Mathers/Edwards strategy to tie a Christian Ziegler campaign to the Sarasota County Commission to Bridget Ziegler's campaign to the Sarasota School Board has failed. Christian Ziegler has decided not to run for re-election.

ATKINS AND COSENTINO ARE BRODY'S OPPONENTS IN DEMOCRAT PRIMARY
Supporters of Fredd Atkins and Mike Cosentino, who are running in the Democrat Primary for the County Commission against Brody are continue to question why Mathers, Edwards, Jane Goodwin and other Democrats are supporting the documented violent, toxic, vulgar misogynist and failed local Assistant States Attorney, Brody. Brody was essentially fired for prosecuting criminal cases while his license was suspended and showing up late for court appearances.
The supporters of Atkins are becoming angry that Mathers, Edwards, Goodwin are so concerned in taking down Bridget Ziegler with organazional and financial support, while basically ignoring the Atkins campaign.
Atkins, who for years long before Mathers, Edwards and Good landed in Sarasota has been the leading voice in the African American community, not only as a long time Sarasota City Commissioner, but also for years outside City Hall and beyond.
Atkins's being leading voice in the African American community began at Sarasota High School. He was the student leader of the first integrated student body at SHS.
