The difference between Babicz and Edwards is also stark in that Edwards is out to buy the School Board seat with near a quarter of a million dollars in contributions, while Babicz will rely on winning a School Board seat by grassroots volunteers.
School Board races that could be won in the past by less than $10,000 now sees Edwards seeking a quarter of a million dollars to buy a seat on the Sarasota County School Board.
Sarasota voters need to send a message to Edwards that School Board seats cannot be bought.
BABICZ COURAGEOUSLY ESCAPED COMMUNISM
Raised in Poland, Babicz fled communism and immigrated to the United States and eventually became involved in the IT profession for 35 years, which he took pride in making his work more efficient and cost-effective.
Babicz has stated he will take pride in making his tenure on School Board more efficient and cost-effective, as well as bringing calmness to the School Board.

Babicz immigrated to the United States living in a one room apartment, while he worked in New York City mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms before becoming involved in the IT profession for 35 years.
EDWARDS LACK OF EDUCATION EXPERIENCE UNLIKE BABICZ GOT A FREE RIDE
Babicz has been criticized by the SHT and Edwards supporters for “lack of education experience.” The SHT and Edwards supporters do not mention that Edwards, “lack of educational experience” when Edwards ran against incumbent School Board member Eric Robinson in 2020.
Edwards moved to Sarasota with his husband nine years ago from New York where he was a liquor store owner with no educational experience, which was not mentioned in recent SHT article comparing Babicz and Edwards.
Babicz has what Edwards lacked when Edwards announced four years ago. Babicz was and is dedicated to fiscal responsibility and common-sense solutions he practiced in his 35-year previous work in the IT industry.

Babicz also brings his concerns about the district’s 3rd-grade reading scores, which have trended down but are trending up again following COVID-19. He said the district needs to focus on phonics-based reading instruction and supports the district’s current literacy plan

Babicz has positioned himself as a conservative Republican candidate against incumbent liberal Democrat Edwards working from the inside to promote his WOKE agenda.

Babicz pointed to Edwards’ “no” vote on Bridget Ziegler’s resolution to reject gender identity discrimination protections under Title IX, as a major difference between the two. The proposed Title XI changes will allow boys and men to compete in girls’ and women sports.
Babicz has stated that changes in Title IX would be contrary to what Title IX was proposed to accomplish, which was to allow women to be on an equal footing with men in gaining college scholarship and get equal treatment in competing in sport activities.
