In a stunning defeat in the bastion of Florida Republican conservatism in Southwest Florida, two Democrat candidates for the Venice City Council defeated two Republican candidates.

DISUNITY IN LOCAL REC AND LACK OF BRILL'S POLITICAL ACUMEN LEADS TO DEMOCRAT VICTORY
The lack of politican acumen with the Chairman of the Sarasota County Executive Committee (REC) Jack Brill and the disunity between Brill and the America First movement, due to Brill's continuing to disparage the local America First movement led to this stunning defeat in Venice.

Together with Brill's lack of political acumen, no longer will America First grassroots activists go in lock step with establishment Republican candidates handpicked by local "Pay to Play" developers like Pat Neal, as witnessed by Democrat candidates defeating Republican establishment candidates for the Venice City Council.
What went wrong in the victory of Democrats Joan Ferrell and Ron Smith over Republican establishment candidates Mitzie Fiedler and Dusty Feller should be a clear message to any local Sarasota political observer, that Neal's lacky Brill lacks the leadership abilities to bring activists together and lead the local REC in the 2024 election cycle.

The local America First activists, who are the backbone of the REC grassroots organizations and was the major part of local REC victories in 2022, have given notice to Brill and Neal handpicked establishment candidtes they will not go in lock step with their run for political office in 2024.
THE NEAL/BRILL ESTABLISHMENT STRATEGY FAILED
The Neal/Brill strategy of running two pro development Neal establishment candidates, one of which was a liberal Democrat two years ago failed miserably. Without full America First grassroots support, many Republicans voted the Democrat anti-development and anti-Neal platform.
BRILL AND NEAL CANDIDATES FAIL TO SIGN "CLEAN CAMPAIGN PLEDGE"
In addition, another issue leading to this stunning defeat was when Democrats Smith and Farrell endorsed a pledge called the "clean campaign pledge" and their Republican opponents refuse to sign it. The pledge called on the candidates to avoid mudslinging and refusing money from political action committees with unnamed donors.

The local America First movement, who are major supporters of former President Donald Trump have not only a problem with Brill's lack of political acumen, they also have a serious problem with a former 12 year former Florida Democrat Senator and local developer, Neal.
Neal, who controls the REC through Brill has made damning comments of former President Donald Trump.

Neal has called Trump among other damning statements; "Trump is an incredibly vulgar candidate who is leading our party off a cliff, and I am dispirited with what I see every morning having to do with the Trump campaign.”

NEAL STUFFED THE LOCAL REC IN HIS POCKETS AFTER GRUTERS WAS “BLACKMAILED"
Neal took control of the REC when then Chairman of the REC in 2017, Joe Gruters turned over the party to Neal after a salacious allegation on social media threaten Gruters political career.

Neal and Randy Benderson, who is the multi million dollar shopping center kingpin then stuffed the REC in their pockets with hundered of thousands of dollars in contributions.
Shortly after Gruters went in the tank for Neal, Brill whose lack of abilty to run a political campaign was augumented by his gift of gab moveed up the REC organization and was named Vice Chairman of the REC under Gruters.
Brill proceeded to run the REC under the watchful eyes of a Neal political operative and convicted felon political operative, Bob Wachter and Kelly Irwin. Irwin who works full time out of Waechter's business office on Sawyer Road is ALSO the paid Eexective Director of the local REC.

Waechter is a three-time arrested criminal convicted of political fraud. Among other Waechter fraudulent political activities was on three separate occasions, Waechter redrew Sarasota County Commission districts to the advantage of Neal’s handpicked Commission candidates.
A DEMOCRAT VICTORY IN THE CENTER OF REPUBLICAN CONSERVATISM SHOULD CONCERN RPOF LEADERSHIP

Venice is in Southwest Florida and part of the stronghold of Republican conservatism. It is in 17th Florida U.S Congressional District, who is represented by one of the strongest Republican conservative Congressman serving in the U.S Congress, Greg Steube.
Ziegler
Venice is in Sarasota County, which is the home of present Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), Christian Ziegler. It is also the home of former RPOF Chairman, Florida State Senator Gruters.
Ziegler in response to what went wrong in Venice, stated that he has not spoken to Brill to what went wrong with the campaign. Brill is chairman of the local REC and ran the Venice campaign.

Daniel Kuether, Chairman of the Sarasota County Democratic Party stated in a release, "It's clear that the citizens of Venice are sick and tired of developers like Pat Neal buying these elections with an inordinate amount of money so that he can easily push his proposals through the council later in the year.”
JACKSONVILLE AND VENICE RACES SHOULD CONCERN RPOF
A Democrat victory in Venice should concern Ziegler since what appeared to occur in Venice is similar with what happened in the recent Jacksonville Mayoral race when Democrat Donna Deegan defeated a Republican establishment candidate, Daniel Davis.
As happened in the Jacksonville mayoral race when an Democrat defeated a establishment Republican candidate, members of America First movement in Venice followed the members of the Duval America First members in not going in lock step with Republican establishment candidates.
Both local Sarasota and Jacksonville American First activists refuse to be in lock step with handpicked establishment candidates. A majority of America First members either stayed at home in Jacksonville and Venice on election night or voted for the Democrat candidates
The Democrat victory in Venice should be of concern to Ziegler, not only as Chairman of RPOF, but also as the Sarasota County State Committeeman.
Ziegler and others should take in the significannce that America First activists in the bastion of Republican conservatism in South County agreed with the Democrat anti-establishment limited growth and anti-Neal development platform.

For example, elections results show Republicans agreed with Farrell strong stance against Neal developments in Venice, which stated:
“The people over in North Venice, who were told that they were going to have 7.42 acres of wetland and a nice pond, and then a land grant was made, that is unconscionable. And really, it’s illegal.”
Smith
They also agreed with Smith calling for controlled growth, which stated the following:
“People are tired of the unbridled growth that we do have in our community.
I don’t want to be stuck in traffic in and around high-rise buildings, and I don’t want Venice to become what we see now in downtown Sarasota.”
Thus. agreeing with the anti-establishment platform of antidevelopment and anti-Neal development, Republicans voted for Farrell and Smith.
DEMOCRATS IN VENICE STAY CLEAR OF WASHINGTON POST AND SHT REPORTERS INCITING CULTURE WARS
Also significant in the Democrat victory in Venice is that their strategy in winning the election in Venice was to stay clear of issues of turning the election into a cultural war, which was initiated when the Washington Post and Sarasota Herald Tribune reporters turned the Sarasota County School Board races into a cultural and religious war dividing Sarasota County.

The Democrats also stayed clear of Democrat Sarasota School Board member Tom Edwards and other left-wing radical liberals, who have turned Sarasot County School Board meeting into a epicenter of woke nonesense.
AMERICA FIRST ACTIVISTS HAVE PROBLEM WITH DeSANTIS APPOINTING A NEAL HANDPICKED SARASOTA COUNTY COMMISSIONER
America First members also have a serious problem with Neal's handpicking Neal Rainford to be the successor of the deceased Sarasota County Commissioner Nancy Detert and Governor Ron DeSantis choosing the Neal flunky to be a Sarasota County Commissioner.

Local political observers questioned how Rainford could have been selected, whose only political experience is being Brill’s handpicked REC Secretary and a member of the Sarasota Charter Review Board, which only meets quarterly.

Rainford, who doesn’t live in the District was chosen over the three-time elected Sarasota County Sherriff, who served 12 years as Sheriff and is longtime resident of District 3, Tom Knight.
In addition, it was questioned and angered America First activists when DeSantis did not only turn his back on Knight, but also Alicia Martinez Hopper, who is a Hispanic woman and an America First grassroots activists.
Instead of DeSantis pushing a law-and-order agenda and appointing a three-time elected Sarasota County Sheriff, Knight--DeSantis picks Brill and Neal’s “Waterboy Rainford."
